Suzy Quilts' Modern Fans Sew Along Week 1
I’ve been loving getting set up for Suzy Quilts first Sew Along with her Modern Fans Pattern. When I first saw the pattern, I was intrigued, but when I saw her gorgeous hand quilting finish on her baby throw she made, I was hooked!
I recently went into my local thrift store and asked them if they would hold any full vintage sheets they found so I could use them for quilting. Imagine my delight when they called me back and showed me THIS as just one of the many sheets they already had! I am thrilled with it - I love vintage, 70s florals, and this is just so me!
Here’s my mockup of how I want it to look. I’m using my vintage sheet as the “odd blocks”, featuring the floral bouquets, as well as for my backing! Getting all my gorgeous Seventies inspo out in this quilt!
I’m also pretty determined to round my corners on this quilt - I recently saw Pen and Paper Pattern’s Marigold Quilt and I was totally smitten by those rounded corners. Looking at the design for this one, I feel like it would compliment it beautifully!
Now to take a run at quilting while executing an overseas move! I’ve been stockpiling quilts to hand finish while we are in between places, as I don’t think I can handle waiting that long to quilt!
